Begin Your Relationship With Your Baby Before Birth
Most parents spend months preparing for labor. Very few are shown how to prepare for the relationship with the baby.
Prenatal Bonding (BA) is a guided process that helps you connect with your baby during pregnancy - so when your baby arrives, they already feel known to you.
You’re pregnant - and somehow feel both overwhelmed and under-supported.
You prepare for birth with classes, checklists, doctor’s appointments, and endless advice.. But something important is rarely talked about.
Your baby is already listening to your voice.
Already responding to your movements.
Already sensing your emotional world.
Yet most parents begin their actual relationship with their baby only after birth.
That’s why the early weeks can feel overwhelming. You love your baby deeply but you are still learning who this new little person is.
Prenatal Bonding (BA) helps that relationship begin earlier, allowing those first weeks to feel calmer, more familiar, and more grounding..
For many parents, the sudden transition into parenthood can otherwise feel like emotional whiplash.
What Prenatal Bonding Is
This isn’t a class.
Prenatal Bonding is a series of guided sessions designed to help parents slow down, regulate their nervous system, and begin noticing their baby’s presence during pregnancy. Together we use deep relaxation, breathing, and focused awareness so that pregnancy becomes more than just preparation for birth. It becomes the beginning of a relationship.
After a few sessions, many parents begin to notice shifts in patterns in their baby’s movements, rhythms, and responses. What once felt abstract and random starts to feel personal. The baby becomes someone you are already getting to know.
Parents often notice shifts in themselves as well.
Some of the experiences parents commonly describe include:
• feeling calmer and more steady throughout pregnancy
• noticing their baby’s rhythms, movements, and patterns more clearly
• trusting their own intuition instead of second-guessing themselves
• approaching birth with a greater sense of confidence and emotional readiness
• entering the early postpartum period feeling more prepared and less overwhelmed
• feeling more confident during the first weeks of caring for their newborn
• babies who seem easier to comfort and settle in the early days
• building the foundation for secure attachment and emotional connection
Many parents say that by the time the baby arrives, they don’t feel like they’re meeting a stranger, they’re meeting an important member of the family.
This work often helps parents feel like a mother or father long before anyone else can see it.
You don’t have to wait until birth for that relationship to begin.
Who is Prenatal Bonding For
Prenatal Bonding is for parents who sense that pregnancy is more than a countdown to birth. It’s for those who want to begin their relationship with their baby now, not months after they arrive.
This work may resonate with you if:
you don’t want to simply “get through” pregnancy - you want to experience it with intention and connection
you’ve read the books and taken the classes, yet something still feels like it’s missing
you’ve experienced fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, or a difficult journey to this pregnancy and want this experience to feel confident and more supported
you sometimes lie awake wondering if you’re already doing enough or doing things “right”
you feel that the baby in your womb is already more than a medical term. You already see them as a little person you want to get to know
Prenatal Bonding creates the space to slow down, tune in, and begin that relationship.
If you’ve ever felt that pregnancy holds a deeper opportunity for connection, you’re not imagining it
How the Prenatal Bonding Journey Unfolds
Prenatal Bonding (BA) is a guided process that unfolds gradually during the second half of pregnancy.
The sessions typically begin between 15–24 weeks and continue until about 38 weeks, giving you time to slowly deepen the connection with your baby while also preparing emotionally for birth.
After your baby arrives, we reconnect for two brief follow-up meetings to reflect on your experience and gather insights about the transition into parenthood.
Each stage builds on the one before it, helping you develop a sense of familiarity with your baby while approaching birth with greater steadiness and confidence.
Stage 1 - Getting to Know You
Before connecting with your baby, we begin with you.
In these early sessions we explore your personal story, your emotional history, and the experiences you are bringing into this pregnancy. Creating this foundation helps the bonding process unfold with more clarity and safety.
These sessions are designed for both parents, since the emotional experiences and histories of each partner can influence the developing relationship with the baby.
Sessions: 2–3 weekly meetings (about 90 minutes each)
Timing: typically between 15–22 weeks of pregnancy
Stage 2 — Connecting With Your Baby
This is the heart of the Prenatal Bonding process.
Through guided relaxation, breathing, and focused awareness, you begin to learn how to slow down and notice your baby from the inside. Many parents begin to recognize patterns in their baby’s movements and rhythms during this stage.
Partners are welcome to attend these sessions as well and often find that participating deepens their own connection with the baby before birth.
Sessions: 10 weekly meetings (50 minutes each)
Timing: between 24–36 weeks of pregnancy.
Stage 3 — Preparing for Birth and the Transition After
As birth approaches, our sessions focus on preparing emotionally for labor, birth, and the early days with your baby.
These sessions help strengthen the connection you’ve built while supporting a calmer and more confident transition into parenthood.
Partners are encouraged to join these sessions as they prepare for the shared experience of birth and the early weeks with their baby.
Sessions: 9 - 10 sessions in the final weeks of pregnancy
Timing: typically between 35–38 weeks
Stage 4 — Integration and Reflection
After your baby arrives, we reconnect for two follow-up meetings to reflect on your birth experience, postpartum recovery, and the early days of becoming a family.
These sessions also allow us to gather insights about how the Prenatal Bonding journey supported you and your baby.
What Research and Parents’ Experiences Suggest
Prenatal Bonding has shown promising outcomes for both parents and babies.
Parents who participate in Prenatal Bonding often experience:
A calmer pregnancy and birth experience
Many parents report feeling more emotionally strong during pregnancy and approaching birth with greater confidence.
Stronger early connection with their baby
Because the relationship has already begun during pregnancy, parents often describe feeling more familiar with their baby’s rhythms, cues, and needs.
A smoother transition into the early weeks of parenting
Parents frequently report feeling more confident and less overwhelmed as they adjust to life with their newborn.
Babies who are easier to comfort and settle
Many families notice that their babies seem easier to soothe in the early weeks.
Some research on Prenatal Bonding has also shown lower rates of medical interventions during birth, reduced risk of postpartum depression, and fewer cases of infant colic.
